2008 PGA Merchandise Show

We had a great time at the 2008 PGA Merchandise Show in Orlando Florida. The Big Daddy Driver was a huge hit, there was constant laughter at our booth. The Golf Channel's Tom Abbott gave us a great review on Golf Central, a review of funny new golf products/gifts. A few days later, Ellen DeGeneres got big laughs when she featured the Big Daddy Driver as one of her favorite birthday presents. Both videos can be seen on our website, click here.

Big Daddy Golf was located in the New Products section of the show, so obviously this was our first. What an event, it was absolutely huge. I'm definitely wearing sneakers next year, we did a lot of walking. Thanks to everyone who stopped by the booth, we hope you got a great laugh and look forward to seeing you next year.

The Story of the Big Daddy Driver

The golf course was pretty much deserted on that blistering hot Arizona afternoon in July 2004, when Troy Nowell & I we’re on the 13^th Hole at Hillcrest Golf Club in Sun City West, Arizona.

The 13^th is a par 5 dog-leg left around a lake and Troy knocked his drive about 310 yards straight through the fairway and into the right rough. It was a miracle we found his ball at all – it was buried in 4 inches of thick Bermuda grass. As Troy was shaking his head, I pulled out the standard joke for the situation – “You’ll need a weed whacker for that”.

On that day, Troy’s ball had found the rough on the majority of his drives. He was starting to get a little miffed. On impulse I said “Dude, you need a weed whacker golf club”. Troy’s sour face suddenly lit up as he considered the idea. The rest of our sweat soaked round of golf was consumed with thoughts of a hilariously funny new golf product – the idea of Weed Whacker Golf Club was born!
